AIDA

The essence of Grand Opera first performed in Cairo in 1871. Set in Egypt at the time of the pharoes. A captain of guard (Radames) is in love with Aida, an Ethiopian slave girl - who happens also to be the daughter of the king of Ethiopia. Her mistress, Amneris, is also in love with Radames. When the Ethiopians invade Radames is chosen to lead the army. When they return victorious Radames asks for all the Ethiopian slaves to be released - except Aida and her father who persuades her to trick Radames into revealing the plans of the Egyptian army - but he suggests that they all run away to Ethiopia together. When Radames is accused of treason he gives himself up to let Aida and her father escape but is condemned to be improisoned alive. As the last stones are put in place Aida appears and joins him in the tomb so that they might die together.

GOOD LUCK TO 2013 LEAVERSOn Saturday the 13th July Laura,Emily,Charity,Ellis,Hollie,Katie and Ellie organized there Leavers do at The Locks in Geldesdon. What a fantastic evening it was,the weather came up trumps and the girls had put a lot of thought and care into preparing their speeches which were very heart felt and emotional at times.
They finished the speeches with the schools traditional finale tune which brought a smile to everyone’s face.
Colin from The Locks put on a lovely BBQ and the girls/ parents made some amazing cup cakes and as if this wasn’t enough they also organized a super raffle [conducted with great enthusiasm by Murry] raising over £90 for Shoestring.
It is always sad to say goodbye to children that we have taught for many years, but on occasions like this it was lovely to see some past ...

LITA’S EXPERIENCE

: We’d just finished our warm up and now this was it! There was a lot of us I remember thinking to myself, about 20 or so in each group and three groups for the Grade 4 section. I walked onto the stage and stood with my feet in fifth breathing deeply to try to control my nerves. The curtains rose up and I was on stage… I love that feeling!

I loved it. So much! We all practiced the exercises and enchainments set by the teacher then did them row by row, three of us at a time...

Strictly Come Dancing

The June Glennie Dancers at The Strictly Come Dancing Show

On tuesday 2nd April the June Glennie School of Dance were very proud to be part of the Strictly Come Dancing tour.It is quite rightly one of the ‘jewels in the crown’ for the BBC and two of the stars from the show, Pasha Kovalev & Katya Virshilas have devised a sensational new ‘live’ show.

The production featured them along with their guest dancers, all beautifully costumed, demonstrating a series of stunning dance routines, accompanied by a full audio-visual backdrop, a Q&A section.
The whole experience was fantastic and Pasha,Kataya and all the cast were so nice to all of our pupils which made the evening definitely one to remember.

A Little Note From Victoria

image(2)

This picture is of me at my first festival in February 2013 at Sudbury, I was very nervous however I really enjoyed it. I have had many other awesome dancing experiences as well they include performing in the pantomime in Lowestoft 2011and doing it again in 2012. This pantomime was called Mother Goose in Gorleston. At the beginning of April I and many others are doing the strictly come dancing tour, I’m sure it will be full of fun.
I hope to have many more amazing dance experiences to come.
Overall, I really enjoy dancing because it’s fun and I get to see my friends, plus the teachers are really encouraging.
